I haven't fallen off the edge of the world, or even the edge of the mountain..... just so insanely busy that finding time to post has become very difficult.


Jed has decided he will not sleep before 9:30 or 10:00 at night and rarely in the day. Tiger has become Mr I Will Do What I Please, When I Please, and Bugger Anybody Else's Thoughts. I am doing a Non Violent Communication course (refer to previous sentence). There are big kid 'issues' going on and Jed has a heavy cold complete with green stuff from his nose......eeeww!!


So anyway, I thought I should check in before my blogger account closes through lack of use.

I wanted to show you what I was given by my gorgeous four for Mother's Day, so pretty.



Must go and wipe a nose, referee a dispute over who gets to drive the red tractor, and start preparing dinner.



I should be able to get back as soon as things settle down a bit and I can see a chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

The rain stopped us from going to Steiner this morning, so we had a quiet day at home instead. Now I'm off to bake jam drops with Tiger, and watch the storm that is about to smash us.... (starting to get over the rain now!!) enjoy your afternoon.

What have we been doing....

The year has officially started....kids are back at school and we went to our first Steiner playgroup for the year last week. Tiger has gone back to the farm and is going to go two days a week this year. He is very excited.
Jed had a few days of higher than normal temperatures, and was decidedly grumpy and whingy.
Teething again!!! Cutting the last back molar and at long last the 4th tooth at the front/bottom gum. He was really a trouper though.
I ripped out what was left in the veggie patch and replanted, we have however had so much rain since, that every time I look at the poor little seedlings they look drowned, bless them, I fear they may not make it. On the other hand it is wonderful to be in the position where there is more water going into the tank than coming out of it. Last night the mountain was almost cut off, (after the 1974 floods the Moutain was completely cutoff for 2 weeks) although DP did get the kids to school this morning since he has been home we have had some showers and it is predicted that we will get more..... lovely stuff. I did hear the buzz that the old timers reckon that February is going to make January look dry???? Mmmm how long and how much rain does it take before mould starts growing on a person?
I borrowed this book from the library it is really sweet, filled with lovely projects that a more experienced knitter would have whipped up in no time. I have started with a pink elephant ( although mine is purple ) she is so cute. I have pictures of the WIP but they are still on the camera and the cable to download them is in with the sleeping baby. I will have to think of another place for it I know...will post pictures next time. Once Ellie is done, I am then going to start on knitting the winter jumpers for Tiger and Jed. I hope I don't get bored before they are finished! I am looking forward to it but realise that if I don't start now they will never be ready in time for the littles to wear them this year. Oh to be a faaaaast knitter!!

Why is it that if you say the word "bottom" (especially if you whisper in a conspiratorial tone) children around the age of three will fall about in fits of laughter? My sister was a culprit, I remember her falling off chairs, so was Mim and so too it seems is Tiger! Perhaps though I shouldn't have mentioned it, maybe it is a particular family quirk. And now everyone will know!

Ok now Blogger won't let me do anything like load pics so I can't show the evidence! I hope I can publish.

I want to make brownies this afternoon... the last batch didn't cook properly, I think I have to use a different size tin, in order for my oven to cope. Best go and start, Tiger has woken from his nap, and he loves to "help" with cooking.

Teddy Love

Isn't he lovely!!!

This was bought for James when I was pregnant with him...so 17 years ago!! I re-discovered the poster at Christmas whilst searching for wrapping paper. I had it framed this week. James also got a Merrythought teddy which is now Tiger's.

I had a Merrythought teddy as a baby, he is still with me. I packed him carefully away, wearing the pants and jumper my Nana knitted for him. He needed clothes to cover the patch he got after I wore away his fur from loving him so much!!

Merrythought has since shut its doors, such a shame, the teddies were just delightful.

How gorgeous is his ribbon??

I have been looking for the best place to put him...

Somewhere he will get some love every day, he needs it after 17 years rolled up in a drawer!

Early this morning we had a hot air balloon pass right over the house, it was really low because of the cloud. We could hear the people talking and the roar of the flame was quite loud. watching it slowly float off into the cloud was really beautiful and a bit romantic, in a soft focus film kind of way!!! The boys thought it was great.

Still raining here -hope everyone else is getting some!

One!

One year ago.....

One year old.....

Jed had a quiet day at home with his big brother and Mama and Daddy. Some presents, some laughter, some napping and some playing. What a lovely way to turn one. Happy Birthday, Jed we will always love you!

My veggie patch has also grown and is starting to produce some things we can eat...I had some just picked, rain washed baby spinach with my scrambled eggs the other morning Yum Yum........ So

in just over a month. I do need some advice though. How do I control the tiny green caterpillar type bugs organically? They are way too tiny for me to find and pick off one by one, I need some sort of help I'm afraid. I was thinking some sort of garlic type spray but I don't really know if that would be right.

We had a big storm here last night, finally some good rain to help fill the tank. It has been overcast and showery today, so the nappies had to go in the dryer...the pay off for rain I suppose! There are more storms forecast for tonight as well, I love rain but not wind or lightening, plus we often lose power in a storm. We have contemplated a generator, at least we would still be able to shower and flush toilets, if the power is out. Still at thinking about it stage....where it will probably stay.

I will be participating in a combined garage sale early next month. I am quite looking forward to passing on of some of our clutter. There is a reason for my burst of Spring cleaning it seems. Now I'm to be found with my head stuck in a cupboard madly calling have you used this (insert; toy, electronic device,item of clothing) in the last 6 months? Yes I'm fairly ruthless I know the rule of thumb is a year!
Should be lots of fun, and hopefully I will make a little money as well...Jed badly needs some new nappies, he is actually growing faaaaast!

I spoke to the guy who knows everything about drugs and breastfeeding this morning, he said that I have no worries with anything to do with my proposed dental work. Damn! lol I have been putting off speaking to him as I have been a wuss about having the root canal therapy done. No excuses now, I have to make some appointments!

We are supposed to take some cake to Steiner tomorrow to celebrate Jed's birthday, but my scales are broken and I'm hopeless at measuring by eye. So I think we might have to celebrate with fruit only. I did make Tiger some play dough yesterday though (no scales involved). What fun! He actually played with it for about half an hour, by himself...a bit of a record for Tiger!

I am about to go and start dinner, roast chicken with veggies and apple crumble for dessert. We were to have it yesterday for Jed's birthday dinner but DP was called out to help with storm damage so we postponed it till tonight...but he has been gone all day and with more storms predicted he might not be able to enjoy it tonight either! I have to cook the chicken though, so perhaps he will have to enjoy it as chicken sandwiches.

Inspiration: Rain...I'm loving this weather today!
